Title: Back end drone
Post by: paul52cdx on 11 February 2010, 19:21:03
Rear end drone on my estate think it is from the nearside.
It seams to go away when turning to nearside is it wheel bearing or backend ???

Before you condemn the wheelbearings have a look at the rear brake calipers.

When I got my first Omega it had similar symptoms. I found that the brake pads on the inside of the rear discs had rusted into the caliper and the surface of the discs had become pitted.

Small direction changes caused the pad to contact the disc and make a droning noise that sounded like wheel bearings to me. ::)
