Hi I have a 2002 2.2 DTi this morning I changed the HBV as it was leaking. the one I fitted was from a scrap yard so not new. Now when driving the EMl is coming on and off. When on there is a loss off power would this have any thig to do with the HBV or is it just coincidence that the mass air flow sensor may now be faulty.
Thanks

go back threw what you did mate and check for any trapped wires or loose plugs :y
i don't believe in coincidences :y
-
why do you think its the Maf ?
-
I had a vectra and it done the same thing and it was the Maf
-
unplug yer maf and go for a run
-
More than likely something you've knocked loose or left unplugged after changing the HBV.
too much of a coincidence to be anything else IMHO
:)

Not a good enough diagnostic. there are lots of things, maf included, that could cause that

The car ran great this morning untill it warmed up then the eml came on. coming home tonight the eml came on as soon as I started to drive so I unpluged the maf and it made no difference. Any body know someone with tech 2 in Belfast and what they might charge. :-?

You changed the HBV ... did you plug the vacuum pipe back onto the top of it ???
If you are "losing" vacuum once the system warms up and tries to activate the HBV that could be the cause.
It is also possible the HBV you fitted is knackered. If the vacuum pipe is fitted correctly, take it off and ensure you seal it ... I screwed a suitably sized bolt in. This will ensure you don't have a vac leak, and should give you full heat from the HBV
Vac turns the HBV to bypass for cold.... no vac = hot

Recheck your work..... :)
Bet you have slightly disconnected a connector, either to gain more access space or by accident.... :y

The fault turned out to be the egr valve down behind the air filter housing. :y
