Title: In process of chaning V6 oil cooler
Post by: Ianb on 17 February 2010, 11:05:36
Following Maintenance Guide from JamesV6CDX (ex member) Sept 2008. With regard to the oil filter, which needs to be removed to get access to to unions which need to be undone.
The type of filter is a cap which is unscrewed using alen key, with a small filter which seems to click into the cap.
However, removal of the casing has defied all efforts.
The car is 99 V6 2.5, and would like to know best way of undoing this body without damage.
Failing that, what are the consequences of carrying on with the oil cooler change without draining from the unions.  Lot of oil I guess.
Any help asap would be appreciated.

Either a 12mm alan key type fitting, or a 27mm hollow bolt - it will be one or the other...
