Title: Soddin' Door Cards !
Post by: duggs on 19 February 2010, 14:01:02
Ok...I give up !

Facelift model.  How on earth are the seat belt end of the top of the front door cards supposed to be connected to the car.

There are no screws and they wobble like mad when the doors are shut. Lower half is fine but top half moves all over the soddin' place.

Thanks Mark...I've had a look and think I know my problem...

"The locating strip will pop out of the guide along the door top."     This either isn't there or tis broken.

From the seat belt side I can prise the door card away a little and look inside...nothings attached to the top of the door card at all...its just sitting there.

Looks like I may need to put a screw in somehow from the side to keep the card in position. Tis fine mid and bottom...it's just the top edges, seatbelt side that are "floating".

Guide is glued to card.  Take doorcard off and reglue with decent glue. It holds well, honestly.  Only comes away if some muppet has been hamfisted removing the doorcard.

I glued mine with TIGER BOND using clamps overnight, and got great results.

Try gripfill, you"ll end up ripping the complete door off rather than the strip. It will not give way.On site once we were ripping a basin out, what someone had stuck to the wall using this stuff, and the tiles and plaster came away rather than the sink.its good shit. :P
