I did ask this at the end of another thread but thought it would be a fare question for new post.
There was a time when putting wrong engine in to a car , you could use a distributor with points run a live wire from battery to the distributor and run the engine on carbs instead of going through the engine management and using the efi, Its a long shot but how important is the sensor on the forth injector and can the firmware of the 2.5td be altered to not need the expensive replacing of the sensor?
I might be sounding a bit of a miser but when a single part for the car comes to more than double what I payed for the car perhaps you can understand why I'm trying different angle on this.
-
Not really.
The engine should kind of run (badly!) without it, as the ECU detects its giving inplausible info. But as 2 sensors are conflicting, it has to assume worse and runs on a very, very limp home mode.
-
So I can basacly dismis the idea as a bitt to ambitos on saving monney or is it the two sensores need to be foold somehow?

Yep - dismiss this idea. I reckon that you could open up another can of worms here.
I've cured a few ills (as you've described), by fitting a brand-new MODEL-SPECIFIC battery.
My previous tractor had a NEW injection pump and No.4 injector. Jimbob cleared the codes with a Tech 2, but they re-appeared. Fitted new battery, cleared codes again at 2009 Newent meet, and to this day no codes stored.
There you have it!

:y:y:yWell cant blame a man for trying but thank you both for you quick reply`s, considering changing handbrake on the pug + few bulbs and put that back on the road or just sell with full m.o.t for the parts for this mig. Should sell the mig but much prefer it although not in such a good condition :'(
Just like to add that so far this forum has been very helpful! :y :y thanks all else as well :y :y

You need to get your arse around the scrappies, seeing if they have Omega TDs, BMW 525TDS or Rangie 2.5D.
There is a variation between U25 and X25 varients, but its only the plug (which can be filed to suit.

Damn forgot - Bayliss had a 2.5TD saloon in a few weeks back.
Yours is the U25, the one they had was an X25, so no problem, as TB says.
Gotta be worth a try!

Nice spoke to them this morning about the battery, couldn't get there today. I am hoping my brother comes tomorrow and we can take a trip up there.
When sethsmate looked under the bonnet of the mig in no time it was recognised as the U25.
Is there something obvious to tell e.g sierra/Granada v6 the 2.8 had two two exit manifold and the 2.9 had two three(I hope that makes sense)
-
u2.5td has no maf and is a 13mm bolt to change oil filter.X2.5td has maf and is 36mm cap on oil filter housing :y

What you have to consider is what the piezo element does....it is this that gives the ecu the feedback as to how long the injector was open for.....hence its not possible to frig it (as it varys dependent on throttle position etc) and with it failed or off the ecu runs a very compromised map

I borrowed inj4 from a scrapie of a 25tds(525) ::) this one had a white plug that had to be butcherd to fit bad idea it hated it so im planing a trip to another scrapie next week

So i would have to add a lot to the original build then such as throttle cable so it delivers just what I pres the pedal to be the maf would become obsolete as well as other components I haven't uncounted yet, I am assuming the throttle is all controlled by the ecu the fuel pump would be easy to run without ecu shourly easiest part of what seems to be a crazzy idea.
I'm told God loves a try er and wow was I trying

Would The 525 have been the x25 and thats the difrence, which tb was on about with fieling, but found another post on white plug and they can be swoped over just two screws I think it was to take off the plug, or are these difrent again

your right god loves a tryer i looked at fitting the engine from a 525 to a senator the stumbling block was the throttle and rear end that was many moons ago :)
