Title: Stupid Question, but....
Post by: Psychoca on 20 February 2010, 13:03:39
I am waiting for a suitable day to do the clutch on my mig, but, as I am doing it on a Hydraulic ramp, i.e. I'm not changing it, laying on my back in the mud, I am trying to get hold of a transmission/gearbox jack, to support the gearbox and lower it safely to a suitable working height... etc...

Does any have one that I can borrow for a couple of days who is not too far from Spalding or Peterborough???

Thanks...

Another Question, would be, assuming that I can get away with one of the above...

How heavy is the manual box in a tractor???

a lot lighter than the autos i belie, changed AR35's bl00dy heavy things, manuals are about 1/2 size and carry 1/3 of the oil, so should be do-able on your own.

If you can't get a bespoke jack, we used 2x trolley jacks  and a block of wood to spread the load when doing an auto box. Small jack at the back and my bigger 3 ton one towards the front

It's still heavy enough to be a pig, esp with alignment on refitting.

I have though about this one myself and I have often mused about the possibility of using a bike jack. Just an idea...
