Title: poxy autobox
Post by: unlucky mark mv6 on 18 February 2010, 22:00:17
Well just reversed the car back on the drive, and the tc light and car with the spanner light came on,also selector lights playing up,and car needed more revs to pull off.Am i right in saying its possibly the fluid level. >:(

do a pedal trick and see what comes up, low ATF fluid would not cause TC / spanner light

Just been out and put my reader on it,and showing no codes :-/,but if you play with the gearstick the lights play up,sometimes they light up and other times they dont.

Check the ATF level (engine running, level surface) but sounds like its a problem with the selector switch  :-/

Yes tunnie i had suspected that mate, but why would tc light come on,is it interlinked with the autobox wiring, and any idea of a price for a new one.Funny its happened tonight, because last time we had all that snow the selector lights starting flickering then, but took no notice, then went all right when the snow had cleared. :y

sounds like some snow got into the selector switch, and has now caused it to maybe corrode the contacts, which is now causing problems.

Was the speedo still working?

Nice one lee, cheers, let me know how much i owe ya,and do you reckon its just possible the selector needs a clean even though the tc and spanner light is on or is it fooked. ::)

That wouldn't be likely to cause it - the selector switch itself is mounted externally, on the side of the gearbox - only a linkage exists inside the car  :-/

All done and dusted mate, and funny enough its working perfect, and dident even need re-aligning,which was a bonus, and while it was on the jack,i thought i would fix the blowing zorst :),but noticed another job that needs doing though, which is the rocker gasket on the drivers side,so that will be sorted monday, weather permitting. My neck is bloody killing me now. :(

One thing i noticed was strange today is after i done the selector and started it up,the engine ran very lumpy, and eml started flashing for a few seconds, but after that car is great now,so dont know if there was a bit of damp in it or summat, because it hadent been started for a couple of days, also no t/c light neither now i have fixed selector. :-/
