Title: 2.5 TD autobox
Post by: Goldy on 16 February 2010, 13:39:24
My recently purchased 2.5 TD auto appears to have no engine braking on over run,is this normal or do I have a problem?
Also the idle speed is a bit low 6oo rpm which causes a vibration at idle, can it be adjusted or does it have to go on a machine for adjustment?
Thanks.

your idle speed sounds about right as mine is the same, as for the braking its probably o,k as you tend not to feel it like you do in alot of autos ;)

Mine's the same, but it does change down on steep hills, but not enough to cancel out braking requirement. :y

my TD auto will brake on hills holding it at 50mph so anything less and it's over to the big pedal

Think I may not have explained properly.
When I am driving along at any speed and take my foot of the throttle the gearbox seems to disengage completely and the the engine drops to idle speed and then when you want to pick up speed again there is a delay as the throttle is pressed before the gearbox catches up with the engine or engine catches up with gearbox if you know what I mean.
Gearbox works fine apart from this little problem.
Anybody any ideas please.
Oil level checked and OK.
Thanks

Down to idle, or about 1000-1500 rpm?

The Torque Convertor unlocks on overrun, normal on most autos.

Down to idle but at motorway speed about 1000 rpm.
