been offered a ECU from a 3litre v6 is it worth fitting to my 2.5 v6 and will it make any difference in performance , car running fine at the mo , but was wondering about changing it , any advice please , cheers , jon
-
cant change ecu on omega. as they are matched to the car and imobilizer. etc.
-
..and 2.5 and 3.0 ECUs have the same map in anyway, IIRC.
3.0 cams are a useful upgrade but the ECU won't make any difference.

ummm. thanks.

the 3.0l chip has slightly more fuelling at the top end.

thanks all for the advice , think it will stay as it is , was just an idea , yep i like the idea of the cams being changed, cheers . jon

Don't believe it does - the ECU 'learns' the fuelling required.

The MAF sensor tells it how much air is entering the engine and it calculates required fuel from that. The map can therefore remain the same. It's just that a 2.5 won't be pulling as much air due to the smaller cylinder displacement.

Took the words out of my mouth Mr Wood!

I've just taken 3.0 cams out of my 2.6 and put the originals back in - gained 4 HP

You did something wrong then or have another issue.....when fitted to Mick Dundess, they gave around 17-18bhp with a buggered exhaust!
