Title: What should my piston crowns look like
Post by: Bumbazor on 22 February 2010, 19:17:08
So far I have only seen them through the spark plug holes, in an effort to determine if they have residue of coolant deposited upon them.

I couldn't see any signs of moisture on any of them and all looked very much the same, although I did notice they seem to have what I can only describe as a rough, almost like having been sandblasted, surface. Is that right?

Thats most likely just carbon deposits and general crap.

When I took the head of other halfs hyundai they were black and as you described, bit of fine grade wet & dry and some WD40 brings them up a treat.
