Title: Holidays
Post by: STMO123 on 21 December 2007, 20:19:11
You've all been chirping on for days now about finishing for the hols and how made up you were. Well, you're all bored shitless already.
If you'd have asked. I could have told you that having time off, in the middle of winter, surrounded by your family is sh*te.

Merry Christmas. ;D

A little tale about a bank manager. When my wife Maureen finished uni in 1993 she applied for a graduate loan and was given it over the phone. Her best mate Clare also asked, but was invited in for a chat as her account history was not the best.
When the manager had been through a few things with her, he asked how much she would like to borrow and she cooly said "£7000 please"
He blurted out "oppsing hell!!"

Ther was a long pause and realising what he had said he had to agree to the loan ;D ;D

There's a moral there somewhere.

As a footnote, she bought herself a brand new corsa, and still had it 12 years later.

i am with a well know building society, i have been with them for 22 years, i only use it to pay DDs, i transfer money each month for them, 3 months ago i transfered the wrong amount and one of my DDs went unpaid, they charged me over £30.00 for the returned DD.

I called the branch and told them my error but they would not return my charges even though i pointed out to them i had been with them for 22 years with never once being low on funds.

I thought that they would have given me them back after all the loyalty over the years.

Least to say the account is now closed.

You didn't put the funds in to cover the DD, it's your own fault dimbo ;D

Not out loud, no, but he got the message.  There was a scandal last year in the press that two men came in to open an account and a file was left within reach when the staff member left the room - it read something along the lines of "Appointment at 2pm for those two benders from Warrington, backs against the wall".................that cost a bit of copensation iirc  :-X

Never paid bank charges - GOOD - nobody should.  Branches don't benefit from the revenue but we get the hassle for it - and the buck stops with me. What fun.  :-/

If all you use the account for is DD's it will cost them about £500 to keep it open.  If you had your wages, savings, credit card, mortgage etc all with them it would have been a different story.  I hope the current court case makes all the Banks and B/soc charge a more reasonable fee - perhaps £10 for first offence and more subsequently - but as people now cherry pick the best deals they have to prop up the revenue from charges.  It is a business afterall.

I am old school, and I really dont see anything wrong with that. We pay £11.50 a month for a barclays additions account and get quite a few perks. We've been with them for donks and never had a problem. So, why switch to save a few pennies each month.

I agree, but the charges are a bit over the top, and paying to draw money out the cash machine is also a rip off, the bank i am with now dont charge anything, if one can do it why cannot others do the same
