Title: MV6 Oil Cooler
Post by: Sir Popple on 24 February 2010, 16:27:56
Well the old girl passed her MOT today, took her for a beer to celebrate. I have just replaced the Dis Pac, Plug leads and rocker gaskets, when I was doing this I noticed corrosion around the front Banjo on the oil cooler!!! I intent to strip her down and replace this but was wondering if any one has used one from Vauxbits? And if they are OK? Or should I get Genuine? or go somewhere else? Thanks

For the sake of a bit of corrosion on a bolt, I would leave well alone, if it's not failed and isn't leaking  :y

The corrosion is not on the bolt its on the di-cast aluminium top by the Banjo, it was also damp in that area and with my luck and seen as the wife drives the car as well i know full well what will happen if i dont do it

It has been known for the cover plates to corrode and eventually leak. Probably down to a poor coolant mixture in the past.

I will, I would also like to get the Cam belt done as well, I have done most things on engines but have never done this so i am a little apprehensive
