my car has been smoking when hot since i bought it from around the manifold the first joint from the manifold to exhaust there was a carbon type stuff on the bend from the joint to manifold ive cleaned off the crap but it still smokes like my nanna any one have any ideas because ill be going away soon and need it fixed

Take the manifold off & clean the mating surfaces, then fit a multilayer metal gasket. Soak the studs/bolts in Plusgas a couple of times a day for a few days first to give you the best chance of removal without snapping studs. :y

oil dripping on it from leaking cam covers possibly?

or spilt oil from the filler if pas side?

Agreed :y  Best to eliminate this option before removing manifolds with the potential for damage to the studs et al.

rocker cover gaskets replaced about 5 weeks ago and are still fine

been back under the car and the previous owner has had te passenger side cat removed could this be the problem i was thinking its trying to pre heat a cat that is not there

only got one cat? should run a bit rough as the lamdas be sending different signals to the brain. i would check cam covers again.

it seems to run fine but its been like that since i bought it so wouldnt know any different but as for gaskets are still fine its a thick burning type of smoke not an thin emision type if that makes any sence
