Any advice on what to use to compress the rear springs I have a spring compressor but it seems to be too big , they are made by laser from halfords
-
Used spring compressors perviously when I done mine and Jims. That, and a longish pinchbar, rather than drop the rear axle assy.... :D
-
Its just that my compressors seem to long to be any use I have made some shorter rods so will try them tomorrow :y
-
It is a bit awkward, particularly as my compressors are of a very old, unknown, make and take a wee bit of thought to ensure you get the correct clearance etc.... ;)

Are you taking shocks off to drop swing arm?

I certainly did and even then, its a tad tight and needed a wee bit of 'persuasion' to slide in/out.... ;)

Forget spring compressors, thats a fools errand
Just follow the maintenance guide.

agreed. disconnect the damper lower, then remove the six driveshaft bolts if you still can't get low enough ( but I've never had to do that and have probably changed fifteen sets on different cars over the years ) You could aso remove the toe-control link as well....

To get extra clearance put jack under diff and remove the 4 bolts that hold sub frame in place. Then slowly lower diff.

Yup, just drop the dif.
if you need a little more room passenger side, someone stood on the trailing arm works a treat while you pop the new one in.
Easy job :y

and if the exhaust is unhooked to allow the pass side to drop fully they really do just lift out. Mind your exhaust is in good nic though.
