Title: Help!! Water dripping from behind crank pully
Post by: Ianb on 05 March 2010, 14:28:19
Completed oil cooler change and flushed out all the gunge. Reassembled with new thermostat and all appeared well. Then noticed coolant dripping from behind crank pully. Thought it could be from the thermostat link pipe.  Checked all around and could not see anything so decided to take everything apart again in case it was the oil cooler plate not sealed properly.
On checking, all dry as a bone, but the water keeps dripping. It drips dead centre behind the crank pully, and at a reasonable rate.
Any ideas from thos that know??  Hope it isn't the head gasket.

Could it be water pump leaking and running down :-/ :-/

I thought about that, but the water pump is over to the right a bit, isn't it? The water is dead centre.  However, as it is coming out quite quickly, it's maybe water pump than head gasket, what do you think?
Thanks for the reply.

if pump leaks, it does tend to run behind crank pulley

OK, thanks.  Is there a maintenance guide for replacing the water pump available?

Thanks and regards

Get V6 cambelt DVD (OOF Shop) - it shows the water pump being swapped on there  :y
