Title: New tyres?
Post by: blackviper90210 on 06 March 2010, 10:59:11
Hi all,

Just noticed my tracking is out 'cos the inside shoulders of my tyres are going bald!

Any suggestions on what to put on?

I don't drive mega fast (70mph top  ::) ), and having kids my budget isn't big!

Cheers, Dave ;D

before you fit new tyres get your wishbones checked thats classic worn bushes which throws camber out

Its not your tracking, its your camber. You need to get that resolved before changing tyres, else the new ones will go same way.

Omega, as it gets older, needs camber adjustments. Don't waste your money on tracking and 4 wheel alignment, the Omega needs a full geometry check fairly regular.

Any recommended places to have this type of work done?

Advice from The Boy is sound. I, along with many others, have wasted money on wishbone replacement, 4 wheel alignment etc. Talk to Wheels in Motion who will sort you out for about £60 The thing is all alignment companies will check and adjust against manufacturers data. This is not what your Omega requires, it needsto be adjusted outside of the manufacturers spec. to compensate for settling of supension. You may find that Wheels In Motion can suggest a alignment place closer to where you are.
