Title: gearbox activity....
Post by: bluebuss on 07 March 2010, 11:51:03
i have the ar35 box in my 2.5td, it seems to have 5 gears, is that right,
apart from the drop a million gears to pick up speed on cruise, it seems to go from 3rd and you can hear the engine and see the rev counter drop down as if it is briefly goes into and out of 4th into 5th....
do i need the original box ecu that was on the doner car?????? also she is very slow to pick up speed, sounds like you are riding the clutch all the time.... errr help.... :-? is there s fiver speed box ar35?? :o

2.5TD isn't exactly the worlds fastest car.  In fact, an unchipped 2.5TD auto is probably the slowest accelerating Omega there is.

Is it any brisker if to start of in 1, and go through the gears yourself?

If the gearbox was in limp mode, I would expect to see gearbox warning msg on the MID (or warning light on the bit below TID on GLS/base models).

Sorry, I'm not firing on all 4 today  :-[ (much like my beloved MV6 ;D).

The TD was limited to 120bhp in the Omega, conflicting views on why (some say so not to compete with BMW 525TDS, others so GM could use cheaper AR25 gearbox, which ALL auto TDs left the factory with).

There are plenty of chips to get the performance back to 'BMW' spec (and beyond). BMW spec is around the 145-155bhp depending on exact engine/ecu designations.

This chip will wreck the standard Omega TD AR25 autobox.  I believe Omegatoy didn't quite get 100 miles out of his one when he chipped it ;D
