Post by: p.beckwith on 07 March 2010, 12:32:38
hi  all
ive just bought a piece of metal to fit in the air flow pipe to decrease petrol compsumpion   from ebay

has anyone else tried this and DOES IT WORK or have i wasted my money ? also how would  it effect all the sensors near said pipe ?  have a 2.5 cdx 2000 plate  drinks fuel like nothing ive known before     nice car but thirsty ?

thanks in advance to all who reply     yours  faithfully   paul

You've been done.

Such things may work briefly (and enrich mixture), but the engine managament will soon notice its overfuelling, and trim it back.

hi  robg  /  all

 fuel  round town appox 25
motorway           appox 34

thinking i jumped in the wrong end of the pool with the 2.5

may now look at swapping for a facelifted 2.0 to save money ?
thanks for replies      maybe i should have asked first instead of buying the fuel saver first ?  never mind

Won`t get much more urban with a 2.0/2.2 & only slightly better motorway

As RobG says, the 4 pots still have more or less the same weightto lug around.
Your V6 consumption doesn't sound too bad to me. My 3.0 normally sits at the very low 20's mpg
