Title: Vac Pipe to fuel pressure regulator

Hi guys after a bit of advice. Working on a 2000 MV6 changing the cam cover gaskets etc. When I took the plenum assembly off i found that the fuel pressure regulator has no vac pipe attached to it!! Looked round and can't seem to find the missing pipe. Does anyone know where this connects into so I can trace it back? Tried to have a look at my own omega but cant see anything with the plenums all fitted so thought I'd ask on here before i strip the top end off mine to trace it.
The car has been using shed loads of fuel and when MOT'd last time he was told it seemed to be overfuelling. Would the lack of the vac pipe attached cause this??

I'm pretty certain that the vac pipe to the FPR is the one that clips on to the cable tray on the passenger side of the inlet manifold and connects to a spigot on the throttle body.

Cheers Andy but i've traced all the pipes down the wiring box and they all seem to be connected front and back. I had wondered if there should be a T piece off one of the pipes thats missing.

All sorted, turned out to be the pipefrom the idle valve. I dont think it was attached before it was removed. As Phil said, would this of caused it to drink petrol? Car has been used for short journeys for a while but has had longer journeys.

The fuel pressure regulator does not have a vacuum connection in the usual sense, look at the pipe leading from the bag pipes to the idle air valve. There should be a branch off that , about 8mm diameter and moulded into the idle air supply pipe. This fits into a couple of clips underneath the cable tray and connects to the FPR.
There is no vacuum connection to the EGR, do you mean the secondary air solenoid above the radiator? in which case lLook in the maintenance guides for a diagram by Mark on the vacuum pipe layout, sounds like they could be wrong as well.

edited my post, i meant to say idle valve lol.

would this cause it to overfuel?

In a word, no.
Fuelling is determined by the lambda sensors and secondary inputs such as engine temp, air temp and air flow.
Check the basics such as air leaks, correct coolant temp signal etc.

Thanks for that, we've just done the cam cover gaskets and found a split pipe. All other pipes seemed fine. Spark plug gaps were around 4mm  ::). Plug 6 (Passenger rear?) was still the bosch original while the others were ngk's, seems the tool who changed them last could'nt/be bothered to change it.

Going up back to Yorkshire friday (just over 2 hour drive) so we'll see what consumption will do. Averaging now around 26.2. Gonna fit a new fuel filter and put a full tank of V Power in.

Of course with the pipe off you have an air leak
