Really wouldn't want to do without removing intake manifold.
I did mine in 55mins one lunchtime, but then I was pretty familiar with that engine ::)

can't rememeber sizes (8mm spanner and 10mm deep reach socket rings a bell, but was at least a year ago!), but remove the nut holding wire to plug, then unscrew the plug.

right then ,then thanks for the replies, am going out in a minute to get my hands dirty.so when i get mani off
will the glow plugs be staring at me?in relation to the injectors, where are they? sorry to be a nuisance
thanks mike

they are below injectors, obvious by the small little wires going to them. Approx same height as the cable tray in there.

thanks for that TheBoy,feel a bit more cofident already
about doing it. thanks mike :y

Don't fit crappy ebay-type plugs either.
NGK or Beru are your best option here, and good luck mate!

8mm spanner to undo the nuts holding wiring, 12mm deep socket to do plugs, as they are long, and the hex head is a fair way down the plug. (useful if you've got a universal joint too, just makes it a bit easier on the back two!) Make sure you only torque them up as per spec...
Did mine recently,(first time) and took 90 odd mins with coffee break, going steady.. Also gave all the mainfold bolts a good dose of plusgas the night before to help loosen up.. :y
