Hi, I have an omega estate (T reg) with roof rails and cross bars(vauxhall part) fitted but I want to remove the cross bars to get rid of the wind noise. I have been to the nearest dealer who had a look but couldn't help , they gave me the number for GM customer service who couldn't help either as the car was too old!! Any one have any experience of removing these ?

He just wants to remove the cross bars, not roof rails, as I read it. :y

Can you see how they are clamped on?
Or is your problem the key is lost to the locking part?
-
If they are genuine Vx cross bars them you need a long reach torx key. It goes in the hole on the end and loosens the clamp ;) Have a look on eGay :y

The Vx set I have has the the steel rod stuck in one off the plastic end caps, ie, pull the plastic cap away then unscrew, remove and do the other 3. If that makes sense.

And it only takes about an hour or so to remove or re-fit the roof rails...(done a few on plods now including roof liners).
