Title: On the advice of Laidback
Post by: Auto Addict on 23 July 2006, 21:16:44
Does anyone have any knowledge about changing the auto gearbox oil in a 1993 Renault clit 1.4 RT?

The handbook does not mention auto transmission fluid at all.

Its simple, light a small fire under the gearbox and claim on the insurance.....

In all honesty, its normaly a gearbox bottom plate/sump off job on front wheel drives.

Any idea what sort of transmission fluid I should use?

Can't light a fire under it, it's the wife's pride and joy :)

Renault are always an arm and a leg job with prices, worse than Vx dealers.

Personally, I think Marks first bit of advice is a bit illegal. But heck, what a good way to fix it!!!!! Renaults have the worlds most NUMPTY autoboxes, ustilising money saving plastic instead of real metal gears etc.

Renault 5 + dead gearbox = Ooops, that petrol can seems to have spilled on the car. As it is dark I will need a match to find the cloths.......
