As above... Can someone with a Facelift 3.2 please measure a couple of things for me... I know the wheel well is just over 650mm across and 200mm deep, can someone please measure the ground clearance from the road to the bottom of the wheel well for me? It's all to do with this (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1266240870) thread/idea.
Also... Where does the petrol tank sit on an estate? is it between the wheel well and the rear axle?
Thanks

On your second question, It's under the wheel well. It has a wheel-shaped well in the top of the tank to clear the wheel well.

Bu99er... That may make things a little more awkward :( :(
Guess it's no bigger than the 77L tank then ::) ::)
Don't suppose anyone knows how much of a gap there is between the top of the tank and the bottom of the well? Don't want to have to space the tank straps too much

this reminds me, l never got back to you to confirmed my tank size, its def 60litre, but doesnt seem so relevent now.
The new custom ecu mentioned in the link, will that work as a straight swap with my stag 300 system?

plus i know ians on here has a face lift estate

Which one... The 300 Plus or his custom one... Oh, and I don't know the answer either way, just interested ::) ::) ;D ;D

either... is the loom plug the same? i'm wondering if the new ecu s would tune out the lag on mine. Not sure i clold be arsed to change the loom as well though.

does it have to be a 3.2 Estate, 3.0 Facelift Estate do?

I would assume that all the facelift estates have the same dimensions/tank... So yep :y :y

I'll do it when i get back, will be standard 17' rims on self levellers. Want it with the car in Park? Noticed when the autos are put in D/R the back end goes up/down fair bit :-/

Yep... Park is fine, although I believe Kevin has answered my concerns by saying that the tank runs under the wheel well... Would be really good if you can confirm this and also (and I don't know if this is possible) the gap between the tank and the bottom of the wheel well if this is true

The tank is pretty much up against the bottom of the wheel well. There was room for an 8mm filler pipe to come out of the bottom of Marie's wheel well and head back to the filler, but only just.
Having said that, removing the wheel well itself would liberate a little room and, as said, I would go for a centre filled toroidal with the valve located to the front, which will bring it out just behind the diff where there is no problem routing pipes. Spacing down the petrol tank is also an option, although if you have a shinbreaker I guess you'll end up with clearance issues before it's dropped too far. Other option is to ditch the main petrol tank and use a small one?
One consolation is that the petrol tank should mean LPG tank to ground clearance is a non-issue.
As far as I can see from the documentation, the stag 300+ is pin compatible with the 300 so probably backward compatible. I think the premium has a couple of extra wires for the OBDII link. Might be possible to add these in-situ but, TBH, I'm inclined to think self-mapping is no big deal. It's the flexibility to manually map it for all load conditions that I'd like to see. The petrol ECU is already doing the self-mapping bit. No advantage in 2 ECUs doing it, other than quicker install IMHO.

Car will have a shin breaker, both for the LPG filler (as I don't want to make a hole anywhere in this one) and for the obvious Holiday Home but I believe it can be done without a bar along the tank.
Could drop the tank a little and intend fitting a top mount, full toroidal with the valves at the rear of the car (as I reckon that orientation will make most sense) although you may have a valid point putting it the other way around for ease of routing the 8mm pipe :-/
Smaller tanks could get a bit complicated IMO, although bears thinking about if you have any ideas :-?
Teilo doesn't think there'll be a massive benefit fitting the newer Plus ECU to an Omega... And the self learn is on his own ECU, not the new Stag one. He's done it because he found a lot of the (admittedly foreign) installers he visited had no access to a laptop with a working battery and were just running the auto calibration and letting it go ::) ::) This way they can stick it "learn" mode and check it at the 1000 mile service ;) ;)
It also negates the need of having someone sat there who knows what they're doing (to make life easier) when you calibrate it :y :y

Now you mention it, Marie's had a tow bar and we dropped the fuel tank out without disturbing it. The tow bar crossmember on the estate runs behind the fuel tank.

Hi guys, sorry to hijack. I have an eilte estate with towbar fitted which i intend to lpg convert within the next month or so. Im just gathering as much info as poss at the moment.
Im looking for advice on tank choice. I want a toroidal to save the luggage space and am looking at single hole tanks with the intention of mounting the filler on the towbar. if i were to get the centre filling tank, is it possible to drop the petrol tank and route the fill pipe in between the petrol tank and wheel well. i understand its quite a snug fit between the well and petrol tank.
what are my options here, am i able to knock the wheel well upward?
put something to space the gap either side of the pipe? what are the regulations i could be breaking here?
would the space available be sufficient for the breather hole in the centre?
I was then thinking of the full toroidal with the outer multivalve position with several holed fixings on the top. i cant seem to find bracketery on the net for these, what is the norm for securing them, just bend steel and make your own?
sorry for the long post.
cheers

Hi Andrew,
I can't really answer your question because I haven't done an estate conversion yet... In fact, I haven't even had a decent look ::) ::)
But I believe what you're asking is possible. I personally wound recommend a full toroidal though, not centre fill, for the range :y :y
