I've not found aftermarket track-control arms or joints to be any less reliable than GM ones.

i put a pair of track rod ends on, budget ones, trade price £6.18 each from EURO CAR PARTS in poole, they are national company.  They came next morning.

The only difficulty is sometimes splitting the ball joint from the hub carrier, but life wasnt meant to be easy!

basicaly, my mot couple weeks ago, involved me changing 2 tie rod ends. total cost was £12.36
and a few swear words with a hammer!

That was cheap Simon! I bought one a few years ago from a local factors and I think it was £25 or so! Changed it myself but had to invest in a proper splitter for the ball joint.
