Title: Cant sync central locking.
Post by: albitz on 17 March 2010, 13:34:37
Went through the normal routine with both fobs - ignition on, press button until doors lock unlock. The only thing that happens is the indicators flash once. Baffled. :-/
Areas worked on recently - replaced interior with leather memory, replaced rear view mirror, replaced battery. Could I have disturbed the wiring to the sensor or similar ?
Help would be appreciated. Tia.  :'(

Should add, batteries in fobs checked and found to be ok.

Edit. Central locking doesnt work at all. Not even on the drivers door button. Fuse is ok.:(

Sounds like a grounding fault.....cant remember where it is for all those functions.....would need checking in the wiring diagrams

Partially sorted the problem. Haynes  says fuse 12 - interior lights, radio, central locking etc. Fuse 12 ok. Had I looked further down the list, fuse 20 - Central locking, courtesy lights.
Fuse 20 had blown, replaced it and everything back to normal except fobs will lock the doors but wont unlock them. Slightly relieved but even more baffled now. ::) :-[ :-/ :-/

Edit. deleted several earlier posts in thread to make it less confusing and long winded to read, they became irrelevant to the problem as it now is. Although MarkDTM,s reply may not make asmuch sense now as it did when he posted it so apoligies to him for that. :y

So to summarise........... the problem I now have is that the remote fobs will lock the doors but not unlock them. The central locking works fine lock/unlock on the drivers door button.
Anyone have any ideas what would cause this please ?
Dont have any hair left to tear out.  ::) :)

I'm guessing the fob could be faulty ???

I had the same problem on my 3-button fob ... doors would lock, boot would unlock, but doors would not unlock ... :(

Sent it to Martin Imber .. he stuck a new switch in it .. now works fine .. :)

I admit that 2 fobs failing seems unlikely .. but you might not have used the spare for a long while ... :-/ :-/ :-/

Mmmm, cant see it myself, both fobs developing the same problem. both red and green lights are working on both fobs.  :-/.........having said that, I dont have any better ideas myself. :(
