can anyone tell me what this part is called and what it does please? also how much would this part be? does it pay a big role in the cars workings? would it cause the engine management light to come on?

Connector for the cut off valve solenoid. Part of the Secondary Air Injection (SAI) system. Most owners have disconnected the system, PITA. If it did throw a code it would be between 0410 & 0419

Leave the vac pipes where they are .. with no electrics to it there will be no control signal .. so the thing won't move and the vac pipes will maintain their present proper seal. Move em and you risk making em leak..  :)
