Title: Tech 2 help
Post by: splott on 21 March 2010, 11:59:25
Anyone live near the Wirral that can help me on a couple of problems.
(1)
I have Fld Vision coming up on he display, I have checked the arms on the sensors they are OK and still connected I also lubricated the swivel arms as one was a bit tight.

(2)
Abs and Traction control lights are on and have lost the speedo. I have cleaned the rear ABS sensors as best I could using white spirit on the faces.
Do you think I need to remove them and do a better job and are there ABS sensors on the front wheels?

Finally  maybe if someone who is local ish to me and has got tech 2 could help me determine if sensors are giving out correct signals etc.
Please PM me  if you can help. :y
The miggy is of the road until I can isolate the main problems, re MOT :( :( :(

No probs, that did cross my mind....although technically you are taking it to 'The omega man' (well thats what my vauxhall trade card says) for electronic diagnostics.  Bit tenuous I know  ;D ;D ;D

item (2) is ...  99.9%  ... ABS ECU ... several threads posts on that about ...

bba-reman can probably repair your existing for around £130 odd ... its just a pig to change .. in awkwardness not skill !! ... so empty the swearbox, send the kids away .. and get stuck in !!  car is driveable with no ABS ECU .. just steering is heavy and .. no ABS, TC or speedo.

bba-reman turn them around within a week IME

HTH

Still grasping at that 0.1% :y Its just to much of coincidence to lose the ABS and level sensors at the same time.  :'(
Do you have a link to BBA-Reman  :y

http://www.bba-reman.com/uk/index.aspx

Give them a ring .. number top right ...  very helpful.

I sent mine on the Monday (courier), got a phone call Wednesday with the "test" result and price to mend, recieved it back Friday (courier).

Fitted Saturday ... so less than a week which I think is pretty good :)

Had this on the Estate (has passed 2 mots like that) - will be either the sensors on nearside front and rear or levelling motors back of each headlight OR as I discovered today a broken wire from front sensor!!  Touch wood that seems fixed now - no fault codes either.

There are abs sensors on front wheels.

Agree with others knackered abs ecu mate  :(

I think the car will pass MOT with the head lights as they don't seem to low.

Will check the ABS sensors on the front tommorrow.
I think the speedo is run off the rear inside ABS sensor I will check that a again at the same time. :y :y

I would advise against BBA following a recent issue with an ecu that they repaired (came back worse than when it went and they were not overly interested)......and you can get it done cheaper than them

Wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to buy an ECU from one of the breakers on here ? :-/

Yup thats what i did!  Get one same part nş from same year, model and spec and it should work out of the box - ie no need for Tech2 session.
