Title: Misfire
Post by: andy72 on 22 March 2010, 17:07:02
My 2.5 has suddenly devloped a misfire this morning. Nice and regular misfire, warm or cold. No smoke, running temp normal, and no engine light.

It does smell of rotten eggs though. Diagnostic isn't throwing up and codes. I thought cat had collapsed but also suggested coilpack/leads

Not even lifted the bonnet mate. Is that easy to see without taking stuff apart?

Just checked one side. No oil, all dry as a bone. Gaskets don't seem to leak as the engine is all clean and no drips on drive. Does sound rough though

Possibly a coil pack starting to die...worth checking each plug for a spark with tester then going from there.

Had experience of a few misfires and always turned out to be 1 knackered lead. The last one had a split on the connector at dis pack end, I only noticed it when I saw the spark under the scuttle.
