Title: Missing pixels

sorry guys am back dont know what the technical name is but the LCD screen that displays the mpg date time and so on has missing parts and would like to know what there called so i can buy a new 1 and weather there just straight fit

Its referred to as the 'MID' PM one of our breakers, they are sure to have one spare.

Replacement needs to come from same spec/transmission, any others would need re-programming with tech2. Also needs to be similar age as the connector changed at some point  :-/

From what I have read the pre-facelift displays are prone to missing pixels but the later displays are much more reliable.

Has anyone tried grafting a later display into an earlier car?

they are repairable but wont last long.. heat kills the connections in the long term.. I repaired them with some sticky bandage but work normal only a few months..

Ah, unlucky. Looks like my spare is a TID. Only half the unit is screen with a single grey plug with 2 rows of 16 pins. Part number 090565935.

i haven't  taken it out yet to see the pin connectors been stripping the engine since Friday will take out the MID tomorrow after work to see what connector type mine if is not of to the scrappys many thanks all

been looking round breakers and it seems there harder 2 find than the holy grail might have to do the bandage trick someone was on about

Yeah, dot matrix screens are a bit famous for failing. A bit like the Philips CD multichanger units.
