What fault could there be with the Auto gear box to cause intermittent limp mode. This has been happening randomly for a while now ( still haven't got round to get codes read - thanks again to those that offered) But only today have I realized that it is as I select 'Drive' that it drops into limp mode . I can drive ok using manual . Re-starting the engine nearly always clears it and then the auto change is perfect . A few times it has taken several re-starts to clear it . . Do Auto box problems leave errors faults that can be 'read ' ? Is it just some sensor playing up ?? Cheers and thanks

Stick your car details and location in your profile.
Is the EML light on at all ??
Engine problems CAN cause gearbox problems .. as if the engine speed signal and the gearbox speed signal don't agree ... there's "trouble at mill !!"
Depending if yours is 4 pot or V6 depends on where we go next ... :)

Hi steve
I dont know if this is any help, but mine did exactly the same, no EML light or anything, it just randomly went into limp mode whilst driving, and also when selecting D. I got it read, (apparently the guy could get a code from it) and it suggested a 2/3rd switch solenoid causing a prob, and the car just switching off the box. i was due to get it fixed, but my symptoms just dissapeared, and the car's been fine ever since.

Sounds the same symptoms on mine. Entwood read the codes and on the 2nd reading had a cam sensor fault. I cleaned the sensor last weekend and so far it's been running good. If it happens again I will change the sensor. Not a difficult job and there is now a guide in the maintenance section.
Suggest you get the codes read to see if you have the same.
