Title: V6 COOLANT - HOW HOT IS TOO HOT ???
Post by: jester1905 on 25 March 2010, 05:54:49
Ok folks, I have had a V6 2.5 (pre-facelift) for a few weeks now. The temp. gauge seems to be working correctly (rises up to mid way on gauge, never above) however the fan seems to be kicking in after a relatively short run (15 miles .. commuting in traffic) and when I have checked the coolant in the reservoir it does seem hot in comparison other cars that I have had in the past.

Is this something I should be concerned about or is this the norm for the V6 ???  :-/

V6 generally works hot.. But when the fans kick in must not be above 95..

sounds fairly normal

aircon on?  its fan helps keep car cool.

a coolant flush with some degreaser etc could help ensure the cooling system is clean and working efficiently.

one point to be aware.. if in cold weather engine temp dont pass 90 for a long time after startup you can be suspicious about thermostat..
