20 minute job .. take the scuttle off, unplug the powersounder, replace scuttle .. :)

Will also prevent any possible fire due to powersounder batteries leaking and causing a short inside the box....  :(

Don't try and remove wiper. Just bend up the scuttle!

WHAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It takes less than 5 minutes to undo 2 wiper arm bolts and lift them off. 1 torx screw at one end of the scuttle. 1/2 a dozen little plastic clips along the windscreen.

Or risk breaking the scuttle ???

If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing PROPERLY ...  >:( >:( >:( >:(

Don't forget to cover the conector cable that you have disconnected from the powersounder with some electrical tape as well to reduce the chance of water causing problems as it will be exposed to the elements.(even under the scuttle can get damp)  :y

Yup, takes but a minute to pop the nuts off on the windscreen wipe arms, and remove them, then remove the scuttle.

All sorted today :y Unplugged it and of course it went off so wrapped it up to dampen the sound...it stopped a few seconds later and I removed the batteries and chucked it in a pile in the garage, taped up the connector and put it all back together...no chance of the miserable little thing going off while I'm driving along now whoa ha ha ha If it goes off in my garage then its going straight to the tip!

See it wasn't that hard a job to do  :)
Glad you are sorted but if your vehicle does get written off some pedantic person from the insurance company may say that you have modified the vehicle or that the alarm system is not fitted so best thing to do is put the powersounder back in the wing area  but not reconnect it. :y
Sorry if it sound like a jobsworth kind of statement but you know it will only save potential problems in the future.I disconnected mine and kept it in location with the wire taped to the bottom of it.

Its a good point but my car cost £200...if it gets written off I wouldnt claim for it anyway...I think my excess is more than that anyway lol :y

Likewise mine was £350 to purchase but the excess is more than the value of the car. ;D ;D
Saying that who would want to nick one?

Somebody correct me, but if you disconnect the internal battery, does it still function as a siren in alarm mode, or is it just a "hold off" activation device that sounds on removal of power??

It's a battery back up for the alarm system in the event that some thieving scroat removes your vehicle battery in the hope of silencing the alarm.
