Title: Coolant Temperature Sensor
Post by: vic on 25 March 2010, 21:53:56
2.2 Ecotec(Y22XE) in my facelift 2000 estate auto.
I'm trying to tie up any loose ends with my investigations into my recent 'lumpy idle' problems. Today I thought I would check out the coolant temperature sensor's performance  as the car warmed up.
Didn't do it because I can't find the thing! Doh' :-[

a)can anyone point me at it please?
&
b) has anyone done an underbonnet  layout on the four pot similar to the   Boy's on the V6?
Many thanks guys
VC :)

It's right on the back of the cylinder head. Not terribly easy to get to.

Could always pop by and slap the Tech 2 on it if it can wait until the latter part of next week?. Make sure it's reading OK?

V6Astra F thanks for the layout. Can't understand why this type of info' is so hard to track down. I would have thought it was basic info everyone needed IMHO, but it's as hard to find as the proverbial "rocking horse excrement"
Many thanks

Kevin,
That would be great. Perhaps you could PM me with a time that fits in with you and we can set up a meet. I'll make sure you get a decent latte or cappuccino this time round. Cars running OK since I fitted a second and geniune MAF. Just yesterday though the engine was hot when we arrived at B&Q however when we came out 15 minutes later it had a tantrum and went back to the lumpy idle and the spanner light came on which lead me to suspecting a further sensor problem.
Speak soon
