Title: Replaced Crankshaft Sensor. Still code 19... >:(
Post by: stevepugh on 26 March 2010, 14:13:48
I had an issue where the car (2001 Elite 3.0 V6) was cutting out completely at random times.  Leave the car then it starts again.
Paperclip gave codes 19, and 145.
I have replaced the Crankshaft Sensor (Gee that's fun...) and the codes are still there.
Are they now stored forever?   is there a way of resetting them?  or they will be moaning about the sensor even tho' it's ok now.   Or does it let the car have a "Period of time" with the good sensor to see if it's fixed then the fault disappears?   I'm not overly concerned about 145..

Thanks.

19 does clear after a few fault-free engine starts, I believe.

if the car now runs ok i would not worry about it...

would be nice to clear it but needs a reader for that function. Story is as Kev says, it will self clear after a number of fault free starts.

Yep, mine took a few days to clear.

Not sure if it's the same on older Omega's as it used to be on Cav's...  But if you left the battery negative lead disconnected for an hour or so, as long as the fault was rectified (as yours is), the light would go out when the battery was reconnected.

iirc it's around 30 clean starts then the relevant codes get cleared

Up to 20 clean starts...I wouldnt worry about it unless its still there in a few days...disconnecting the battery overnight should clear it sooner as it will reset the ecu :y
