Title: lamba or cat failure (update)

replaced the lambda sensor with a new one from vauxhall
car was back in for retest this morning
result FAILED >:(
fast idle
co was 0.53 now 0.61
lambda was 1.050  now 1.038
hc was 20 now  88

second fast idle
co was 0.57  now 0.73
hc was 1 now 101

natural idle test
co was 0.36  now 0.49

guess its the cat then
lambda was 1.049   now 1.035

mate, I think trial error will be an expensive way  :-/

as  I mentioned before I still think you have problem with ignition and/or combustion in some cylinders are not complete.. and also  a compression test may give better ideas imo.. :-/

will check the compressions in the morning
the car has had new plugs leads coil pack
a replacement maf as there was a code p0100 relating to that put replacement maf on cleared code
no codes have returned

if those tests dont give a clue including the compression test , check coolant temperature sensor.. and ideas finished :P

We had the same problem with our mercedes, it was the air mass sensor
