Title: leaking water from behind engine??

have just brought my first omega a 1997 2.5 v6 cd upon getting it home i have realized a major leak behind the engine the water seems to be coming from the coolant tank as can virtually watch the levels drop can anyone help

Sounds like the usual suspect..HBV ...small black "starship enterprise "valve at back of engine under screen scuttle.
Extensive guide to replacing in the maintenace section.
Dumping coolant is the classic symptoms of valve leaking.

heater bypass valve probably. Guide in maintenance.

just had a look and yea theres loads of brown rust like stuff from the coolant tank all over it will order the part now many thanks for the very fast reply all

Make sure you scource a GENUINE HBV, remember, buy cheap, buy twice :y

part came today looks exactly the same as the original like the enterprise but with more pipes :p

Have you bought a packet of plasters too?  ;)  ;D  ;D
Best to remove the scuttle for access & it'll take you an hour to fit. ;)

fist aid kit on standby  ;D haven't had chance to fit yet but will get round to it some day you can tell its a project car when the clouds disappear will be the time :P

woooooo fitted!!! after about 3 hours of fighting with pipe clips which are now replaced with jubilees its on have 1 less finger and a minor laceration to my forearm due to there not being any space its fitted haven't started it yet hope that was the problem fixed

As a matter of interest, does anyone know the Vx part number and a rough price for the offending valve?

dont know a part number but ebay had 1 for £16 with postage which i just fitted :P :D

your dealer's parts desk will have EPC & he'll know the part number  ;)  ;)  ;) :y
