Title: More Fault codes, some expected others not help!
Post by: Impact Pete on 28 March 2010, 19:11:09
About 4 weeks ago Darth loo knee made my car a much better one! after replacing cam cover seals he noticed that the ignition coil packs? were badly corroded from the oil caught in spark wells, he said he would be surprised if the car still did not missfire, I was lucky that after the job the car was spot on, unfortunately a few days later the EML light came back on bringing up codes 0170/0173 Fuel trim malfunction banks 1&2, 3 weeks later (today) car suddenly started missfiring as EML light flashed away.
Stopped checked codes which are now;
1700 Service Vehicle soon request from transmission control module
0300 Random/multiple cylinder missfire detected
0306 Cylinder 6 missfire.

Obviously after what Darth loo knee showed me I have been lucky to this point, the passenger side pack was the worst, is cylinder 6 on this side?
What price are the packs? I'm going away week monday (towing) so this has come at a bad time!

Also what could the fuel trim malfunction be?

Yep, passenger side is the 2,4,6 bank. 0170/3 could be vac leak or dirty MAF

Mass Air Flow meter, lives in the pipe work just after your air filter.

Ah thanks! going to change air filter tomorrow as when Darthloo-knee changed the oil filter a few weeks ago it was obvious it had not been changed in some time >:(, and as the garage previously reckon they have serviced the car I suspect they have not changed air filter recently either cause they certainly have not done anything else right!. will have a look at the meter then
