Title: Climate bulbs in Prefacelift
Post by: MV6Matt on 26 March 2010, 13:30:38
My climate dials are currently working. :y
However, at the moment it's just the driver side.
A couple of days ago it was passenger side and the number. :-/
When 1 side is bright the other is working but only just visible. :-/
Would new bulbs sort this or is it more likely the connections behind the panel? :-? :-?

The 'how to' photos don't show where the bulbs are so I presume it is obvious when you got the panel facia off?

Can anyone advise please?

Matthew

They aren't really obvious, but you need to split the back off the dials once the panel is out. A few torx screws is all that holds it on :y

Ta that's helpful :y

Anyone know about the bright/dim thing?
Is it bulbs or is it the connection?

Hopefully, if you change the 4 bulbs for new ones and re-seat the plugs when re-connecting, it will cure the odd fade.

Change the bulbs for a set of LED's. Better and last much longer!!

No, no, no, no and no again. The climate panel uses clear plastic strip to split the light out to the various buttons and (gay) LED's are too directional to work properly.

Change the 5 bulbs save you doing it again at a later date :y

Vauxhall will tell you there are 4 but they are wrong there is 5 :y

Sorry Dazzle, my mind was elsewhere. You're correct as ever, 5 bulbs in the climate and 4 in the MID.

Can I give you a little tip too.....

Once you've got the cimate panel off put a cable tie round each end of the pull down handle with the extra pointing down (don't cut them off!). That way next time the panel has to come out you haven't got to try and squeeze your fat little fingers back through the radio opening ;) :y
