Title: Water leak
Post by: barclay03 on 31 March 2010, 15:05:37
Noticed over past few weeks the water level has been dropping slowly when the MV6 has been run. Decided to do a bit of investigation and noticed that the bottom front of the engine looked wet.

Today i stripped it down to the cam belt to check the water pump (in the snow might i add! :-?) but couldnt see any water marks around the pump itself - looks to be comming from lower down?  :-/

Anyone any ideas or common places for water to come out of? The water pump was changed along with the cam belt not too long ago, so that was my first thought, but i couldnt see any noticeable water around it

first of all check all hoses from the radiator to the header tank, make sure they're not leaking, then I would check the coolant bridge (you have to remove the plenum and the other bit underneath it).

Or oil cooler plate? Though that often runs down back...
