I was wondering if there is a easy way to replace the backplate on the left hand back passenger side brake? The car is a 1995 2.5 auto, I went to my local mechanic with a noise from that side, when he dismantled everything he told me one of the pins had pulled through the back plate, he managed to sort it but said if it goes again it would need a new plate which involves removing the hub assembly etc. Is this true or is there an easier way to do it? Also would a later models fit it and does it have to be off a 2.5 auto ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

IF you can get the back plate bolts out then you can pull the backplate foward enough to get the pins in from behind but you would need to reinforce the hole with a washer or the like.
Another way would be to cut the old and new plates in half but again to do this you'll have to get the bolts undone.
If all thats fails then it would be hub apart, if you do this change the bearings at the same time or find a couple of good complete second hand arms
Cheers
