Title: Tried and failed......
Post by: pedroMV6 on 14 March 2010, 20:02:40
....to find the popular OOF suppliers of quality exhaust systems. ::)

Washed mine today, rear pipe a bit erm, well, wobbly!
I have a new GM rear silencer, but might need mid sections.
2001 2.6 MV6 wagon.

Anyone?

Eternal, get one for 2.5, it will fit.  :y

Only thing is back box pipe is a little short, so you will need to put a trim on it really, and oh, get seperate clamps, as they ones they provide are rubbish

Can't see why not, they're little more than the cost of half a tank of juice.  ;)

I have a brand new GM back box - £25 from ebay, the seller made a mistake with the listing but had to let it go -  so hopefully it's for a wagon and will mate up to 2.5 mids.

Thanks guys - appreciated! ;)

Got the car in the garage this afternoon and the twin pipes into the back box have rusted through completely, just before the clamps - arse!
It's the complete back box that is swinging in the breeze!!!

No worries, I've been on to Eternal already.

Again, thanks for the info, guys - much appreciated! :y

The centre sections are the same on all the V6's from 1995 through to 2003....they never changed

Has this a a reply from them:

Hello,

Can you also tell me if this is a 4 door saloon or estate? We do not do any exhausts for the 2.6 engine size. I will send you the links to what we have.
Please tell me also the exact engine size in cc.

regards
 EternalCar

So I've replied thus:

Hi.
The car is a MY2001 2.6 MV6 estate, but knowledgeable people on Omega Owners Club say that any V6 pipes will fit as they're all the same?
Apparently just the backbox has slightly longer tailpipes on the estate.

Should I have just asked for a pair of 2.5 mid-sections? :-[

Just found their ebay shop!

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/eternalcar/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340

Seems they're in Crewe - I was under the impression that they were in Germany (from the link http://store.eternalcar.com/ posted up by Rob).

Hmmm - losing faith in Eternal.

Had this today:
 "Hello,

There are the same exhaust systems for the 2.5 Turbo Diesel and 2.5 DTi
Turbo Diesel. You say that your Omega is petrol, and we do not do any
exhaust pieces for 2.5 petrol (and I cannot even find any reference to
this car to check and confirm if they might be the same).
You can investigate by yourself with BOSAL. Here is the link to their
online catalogue:
http://www.catalogue.bosal.com/pages/exh_cartype_search.php

We have only the centre exhaust for the 2.5 TD. Here is the link:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190217308077&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

Regards
EternalCar"

Then this from their ebay department:

"Thank you for your enquiry.
I need to know the following details to provide you with the correct exhaust pieces:
- your car make and model
- body shape of your car
- year of production
- capacity of your engine(cm3/l)
- your engine's power (hp)
- fuel type(diesel, fuel)
- if you have a catalytic converter

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best regards
EternalCar"

I think I just need a few more peeps to agree that all petrol V6 centre exhaust sections are the same from 1994 - 2003, so I can hit that BIN button!

As already said ALL v6 centre sections are the same from the day of launch to the end of production.

Ok then, Mark - I'll get it on your recommendation!  :y

Seriously, thanks!!! ;)
Title: Re: Tried and failed......
Post by: Marks DTM Calib on 24 March 2010, 18:54:34
For info, the only difference between the 3.0 and 2.5 exhausts is the number of pipes sticking out the rear.....

But, be aware that the saloon and estate have different rear sections and there is also a difference between facelift and pre-facelift.

I know penfold bought one for a 2.6V6 facelift saloon recently (as I fitted it)

Hadn't noticed that! :-[
I assumed by the pattern that one was for one side and one the other.
Not that bothered what they look like, as long as they fit and pass the MOT in a week or so!

So, the centre sections are:

Offside

and nearside

Rear:

Clearly, double check with them

Don't need back box, as I have a spare, new, GM one.
I've asked to collect, and assuming they have all what they're selling on ebay, shouldn't be a problem.

Saying that, if Ian D has a pair in OK condition, I'll be having them instead. :y

NOW SORTED!
Thanks to Cliffo B. :y :y :y
Title: Re: Tried and failed......
Post by: pedroMV6 on 01 April 2010, 22:51:28
Sorted!
Very generous guy called 'Cliffo B' from Leeds on here offered a hardly used (4/5 months, GM stickers still visible), for a 3/3.2 litre system for the cats back for a nominal charge - he even delivered and threw in some putty and a bunch of new clamps!

Naturally, 3 of the 4 bolts on the two flanges at the cat pipe union sheared and I went through half a dozen drill bits, but the system is on and very quiet - just what I wanted, so I'm a very happy bunny! :) :) :)
Well, it is Easter.................

Oh, the twin tail pipes have nice chrome trims on them too, and sit perfectly on the estate - pics when cleaned up! 8-)

Thanks Cliff - hope to be able to return the favour one day! :y

Cheers Baron!

Eternal kept whining that the didn't do an exhaust for my car, so I said I'd have a pair of centre boxes for a 2.5, but then they wouldn't allow me to collect, was I sure a 2.5 would fit..............  so when Cliff offered me this one, I bit his arm off! :y
