Title: Engine cutting out
Post by: jonnycool on 04 April 2010, 21:57:57
I took my car on a 10-mile run today and when I was reverse parking in my street it seemed that the car wouldn't rev, despite using full throttle at times. It cut out after about a minute of this and would only run roughly for a few seconds at a time when I kept trying it.

I did the pedal trick and I had the following codes in this order-
0156
0136
0156
0100
0100
0130
0150
I checked this twice, it is correct - any idea what could be going on?

Later on I started the car and it ran normally  :-/

P0136 O2 sensor circuit slow response (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

P0156 O2 sensor circuit malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

P0150 O2 sensor circuit malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)

Those should not stop throttle use, that to me suggests cam sensor / throttle body issue  :-/

Could fuel filter have anything to do with it? ie giving the same sort of symptoms

Bloody hell tunnie, how did you work that out?

was the thottle completely dead? Only time i have had it is when my cam sensor went, engine was in limp mode and a high idle of 1,200 rpm, restart cured it.

If its ran normal later suggests a dogey sensor rather than fuel filter to me  :-/

O2 sensors are on the exhaust are they not? detecting what is coming out in terms of gas... i know the 3.2 has issues with those and no throttle problems  :-/

Indeed they are, but your diagnosis is seriously flawed...

Throttle response did not completely go, just for a couple of seconds at a time, then cut out

On the basis that any number of faults causing it to run poorly, could confuse the lambdas and log rogue fault codes relating to O2 sensors?

How much fuel is in it?

Could understand those codes putting into limp mode and 4k rpm limit, but not stopping the throttle working  :-/

How much fuel is in it?
About 1/4 tank from a fill-up

If you're around tomorrow, I MAY be able to pop up ... seeing as you're only up the road  :y
