Title: code 19 od 3.0 v6
Post by: Bojan on 05 April 2010, 14:28:53
i'm having problems whit my mv6 (as described in recent post).
here is the whole history:

1) last summer i've noticed that almost every time when the engine is warm, it wouldn't start at first turn of the key. it crancks, but doesn't start. then, i try again immediately afterwards, and it starts normally.

2) this winter, when really cold (-10 'C), when i start the cold engine, it runs normally, but every 10 sec or so, like it misses a beat (coufs slightly, and all lights dim for a part of a second). this lasts for a minute max, and afterwards all normal.

3) 2 days ago, it started to struggle to accelerate in low revs (up to 2000). first only on lpg, now on petrol to. i've thought the problem is in plug leads, but then i've done the paperclip test, and code 19 flashes out (engine running). no EML  during driving.

could a dying cranck sensor cause this problems. (car runs, but struggles in low revs)?

from what i read, it is not the sensor that fails, but the cable (deteriorates because of the heat). can it be mended by a good electrician?

if buying a second hand one, what to look at? in order not to buy busted one?

the cranck sensor for a v6 isn't easy to buy in croatia
(GM dealership needs around 2 weeks to ship it :o, and the prices are outrages -> been quoted around 250€ for ONE rocker cover >:().

Code 19 is a definite crank sensor on the V6. If you don't change it.. and soon .. it will fail completely and the car will be undriveable .. :(

I would try a PM to andyc .. he might be able to post one out to you faster than your dealers can get it ?? and maybe a lot cheaper ??

saturaday: started struggling on lpg after almost an hour of driving. on petrol it run fine.
yesterday: started struggling on lpg after less than half an hour. on petrol it run fine.
today: started struggling on lpg after only 5 mins. it started to struggle on petrol to.

just a backup option:

can the crank sensor be fixed?
i see that is usual for cable to melt down. basically, can this melted piece of cable be replaced with equivalent one?
that should do for a couple of weeks of driving, until i get a new one.

In a word no, your best getting a genuine one from a Vauxhall dealer ;)
