Title: Different temp problem
Post by: Marc Taylor on 06 April 2010, 18:32:48
Would anyone be able to enlighten me as to why my digital temperature inside the car struggles to get above 1 degree.  I got in my car today with the sun beating down and it was showing -30.  Would this be linked to me needing a new thermostat?? And do i need any special tool for the nuts holding the thermostat on or would a normal socket do the trick???

Absolutely nothing to do with the thermostat. That'll be the outside temp. sensor mounted on the front bumper causing the -30  :y

If you are refering to the dash display for outside temp then i think the external sensor is fubar ..... new sensor about £8 if i recall correctly ... passeger side under the bumper at the front  :y

Ooops ,  too slow ... must type faster  ::) :-/

Your thermostat is/should be fixed by 2 Torx bolts, size T11 IIRC :y. As for the Outside Temp. Sensor, it is at the very bottom of the Passenger side corner of the front bumper. If you put on full right hand lock and look up from under the wheel arch, you will see it. :y

Edit: As already stated by welung666, the two issues are not related. :y

If the car is X reg, will it not be a facelift car? If so, temp sensor is in the middel of the bumper.   ;)  ;) :y
