tapping or blowing, that kind of noise the mk 3 ford fiesta was commonly unpopular for. its like the tappets or exhaust blowing or something. i just dont no. is this acommon problem with this engine ??? G

All the time, or just when cold.
-
worse when cold but still a constant noise. if i rev the engine gently it pairs like a v6 but under force or accelerate whilst driving its tap tap tap tap and it makes me feel as if its a shed. thanks G

sounds like a possible exhaust gasket..
-
i thought or i hoped it is just something like that. a friend had the face lift 2.5 V6 a few years back and his did the same only my car seems worse than his. G

If it is the exhaust manifold gasket, lets hope its the drivers side one ::)
-
why whats the situation with the near side ?

Engine up off its mounts and moved over to allow access ::)

Drivers side......ok job, bit of a pain, but quite easy.
Passenger side.......allow at least a whole morning/afternoon, make sure no-one is within earshot (you will use lots of profane language) and make sure you have a good tool set, two trolley jacks, and a piece of plank.
Not my favourite job.

wonderful. my luck thats the side. lol

You'll need a good 3 to 4 hours to do the driver side ;)

If it is the exhaust manifold gasket its not too expensive to get done just make sure you buy a genuine Vauxhall multi layer manifold gasket part No 24416110, manifold to downpipe gasket 90499289, transfer pipe O ring 9128362, 4 x 12992647 Dowty washers for the coolant bridge (You dont have to remove this but I find it makes access easier) and I always buy a few new studs and nuts just incase there's any that have snapped.

thanks for all the advice. G
