Title: omega td intermittent boost
Post by: Omega6pot on 31 March 2010, 12:04:08
Hi I'm having problems with my 01 omega 2.5td, it is on occasion when accelerating from traffic lights giving no boost at al in 1st or second gear, if I let it drop to idle again by clutching it the boost wil then work when I accelerate it again, anyone had similar problems? Cheers Al

Check the thin pipe on the underside of the intake chamber isn't split and still attached at both ends. If it is then your boost sensor could be needing a good clean (it's on the other end of that pipe from the intake chamber). :y

i get exactly the same thing somtimes, ive got an auto though but still somtimes i push the pedal down and there is very little acceleration, let off the pedal for one second and then reapply and its back to normal again, is there a picture for the area to clean or inspect that your talking about because i havent had the car long and havent got used to where everything is on the engine yet, many thanks

I don't have a pic, sorry. I can describe it though...

If you take the plastic cover off from between the rocker cover and intake chamber (10mm nut near the back and 2 twist lock screws at the front) and feel under the intake chamber from the number 3 injector hole you should feel the pipe. With a mini-maglight type torch you should be able to follow that pipe back to the boost sensor.

This rubber tubing goes from the EGR valve over to the glass-topped filter/boost sensor on the N/S inner wing. It's by the PAS reservoir.

The little glass filter on mine just has a J shaped tube off the bottom to atmosphere! Can't remember where the other end goes ;D

That's the beggar - it simply vents to atmosphere 'as is'

Goes to EGR valve :y
have you paper clipped it yet to see if any codes a lurking around :y
Have a look under the engine at the turbo boost valve(at turbo) and see if it's still attached to the flap on turbo.
Ive had a couple where the small lock pin has failed and connecting arm has fallen off :y

Phew, had me worried for a minute then :P It's all getting cleaned out soon anyway. Big service at the same time as I do my clutch/DMF :y

does anyone have a picture of this "boost sensor" as this boost problem is really annoying me, thanks, it doesent have to be a real picture, the diagram of the engine bay with the area circled would be brilliant thanks, also how do you clean it, use a rag and some detergent, thanks
