Title: alarm woes

Hi, not long had my omega 3.0lt v6 elite and the siren is going off when it feels like it whether its locked up unattended or driving down the road nearly scared an old dear half to death coming back, I have read about this been the alarm sounder and that its a sign the back up battery is knacked but where is it and how do you change them can't you disconnect it from the power supply and then take out the back up battery I think its under the drivers windscreen wiper is this right please help before my neighbours trash the car with hammers. cheers

Mmm. must be the season.....Mine too.

Easy to do, remove wiper arm drivers side with 10mm skt, remove torx screww below it, lift up scuttle carefully, and pull off connector from powersounder. Done. You can get replacement batteries from Maplins, and at a modest cost. you have to remove PS from car, use hacksaw to separate two halves of PS as they are glued, and solder in new batts.

SIMPLES!!

Thanks everyone managed to get the thing off but stopped short of launching it over a hedge, just need to visit the hearing doctor.... It sure doesnt like been tamped with but then I suppose thats its job, at least the neighbours will be happy. cheers again for the replys

Glad to hear you removed it successfuly, (if you will forgive the pun' ::)).I've found my standard alarm still works normaly since I removed the powersounder. Having removed it I did open it up, co's I always want to know how 'stuff' works, and have recently bought replacement NiMH (£7 'ish)batteries which are different from the original button NiCADs.
Just trying to work up the enthusiasm to figure out the connections and solder them to the circuit board and then replace the unit back from whence it came.
