Title: Coolent Level 'CHECK'
Post by: Road Hog Mad on 15 April 2010, 19:58:27
I am convinced Vauxhalls have pre programmed faults in them.

Coolent level check, so I get and check it, all fine (had me worried for a moment).

Play with float in side, goes off, then come back on again, grrr.... seems like its the sensor in the expansion tank, good job I have a spare expansion tank lol.

One thing after t'other  :'(

Often tend to go faulty for following reasons:

Poor coolant servicing - float goes sticky, resulting in false readings.

Mechanics missing the hole filling it up - it all ends up getting underneath and getting in sensor/plug/connector/wiring

Occasionally, it can be dry joint on reed switch, but a bit of a challenge to get it out in one piece (can be done, but must be withdrawn absolutely straight)

Should add, new bottle with sensor is £24 + VAT trade.
