Title: 2.5TD Hot Start poblem
Post by: BlueSea on 18 April 2010, 14:14:24
Has anyone cured this problem? I work in Spain in the summer & the problem is much worse there than home in England. It appears to be related to Ambient air temperature  rather than engine temperature.A Spanish mechanic inserted a Chip which makes the Glow Plugs function even when the engine is hot. This has helped but not cured the problem.I always have to have a pefect battery in the car & carry a Jumpstart unit at all times. Is the only solution a new injector pump?I have already installed a new pump in the fuel tank.

I would try new injectors first. When they get old and clogged up the spray pattern is bad. Instead of spraying a fine mist the fuel comes out in a jet.

There is also a module that you can buy which makes the ECU think it is handling a cold start, then after a few seconds lets the switches to the actual temparature...  Cost about 30 quid...
