Hello all. I'm using my late pa-in-law's Omega. Previous discussion topics were:
- ticking noise from engine (cause: exhaust manifold gasket, replaced, fine now)
- clunk from the front-end/suspension (extensively checked, wishbones, dampers, springs all okay, still clunking, would like to resolve, something loose in engine bay?).
New problem: alarm goes off without good reason. May be due to heat from sun, as it seemed to start happening after the weather improved.

The power sounder is probably on it's last legs look here. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1220198611
Disconnect or replace.
Or check the bonnet switch first, if it has one, could be the cause, it may have moved.

If it when the sun hits the bonnet then check the bonnet switch for "verticalness" ( new word OED take note !!) or unplug it and see if the problem stops... :)

Clunking is probably the droplinks.

Good morning all,
Roger any news? Just recently my alarm has started going off for no good reason as well. Had my neighbour telling me it went off at 3 in the morning!
At the moment I'm going by what the handbook says in as much as how to keep the alarm off.
What happened when it was going off I just re-armed it and then moments later off it went again.
I've tried disarming the internal sensors as the handbook suggests, pressing the relevant button on the centre lower dash and then arming the car only for it to go off again.
Very annoying!
I'm going to have a look at the bonnet switch as one of the previous posters has said.

Just unplug it as a test. If it 'fixes' your problem than it's likely the bracket it sits on needs bending straight ::) ;)

Having similar issues - but only when gettign inot the car (due to not being able to use the central locking as one of the door locking motors needs replacing....)
How do you disable the internal sensors ? (have not go tthe manual to hand... sorry...)
Thanks
Raf

Easiest way is to close all doors, open rear pass door and press driver`s button down then shut pass door. Alarm is then inactive (don`t forget to remove keys :D)

Thanks Rob, have indeed told them to do that.... :y
..... but he's a little old bless him and sometimes forgets to do that..... wondering if there is a more permenent way to disable the internal sensors....?

Thanks to those who suggested I look at the bonnet switch, seems it was lower down than it should be, bracket being quite bendy, so I bent it upwards. Sorted! (As a postcript, I notice that the alarm no longer goes off when I lock/unlock the doors manually, as it used to do. Coincidence? Opening the bonnet after a manual lock/unlock trips the alarm, presume this is correct?)

Had similar issues with my alarm constantly going off during warm/sunny days....found solution in gluing a small plastic cap to the top of the bonnet pressure switch so now the button moves down further when bonnet closed and if expansion occurs due to heat more movement required in switch before triggers alarm.
Job solved.

I would also like to check mine
